Curious about the Intermediate Second Series of Ashtanga Yoga? Been Practicing the Primary Series for a while and ready to move on?
This workshop is for students who have been practising the Primary Series and are looking to progress and deepen their practice to the next level. Experience of the Ashtanga Primary Series and proficient backbending are required.
Come with a sense of curiosity, humility and humour for this chance to study with one of South East Asia’s most experienced Ashtanga teachers.

Schedule & Description
Part 1: Establishing Intention and Foundation
24 September (Saturday): 10:00am-1:00pm
This morning session will focus on Backbending and Twists. Principles of backbending and the first half of Intermediate Series will be demonstrated, broken down and explored. The workshop series will begin with observing the Patanjalim Yoga Sutra: “Sthira Sukkham Asanam.”
Part 2: Doing the Work
24 September (Saturday): 2:30pm-5:30pm
This session will focus on Arm Balancing, Ekapada Sirshasana and the middle section of the Intermediate Series. Detailed technique, alignment and injury prevention will be covered with adequate time for exploration and inquiry. Discussion will evolve around the Patanjalim Yoga Sutra: “Tapas Svadyaya Ishvarapranidhana Kriya Yoga.”
Part 3: Refinement and Injury Prevention
25 September (Sunday): 10:00am-1:00pm
This morning session will focus on the technique of breath and movement during postures and transitions of the last part of the Intermediate Series, Pinchmayurasana and the finishing headstands. Injury prevention and efficiency will be addressed. Attention will be given to the Patanjalim Yoga Sutra: “Heyam Dukkham Anugatam.”
Part 4: Nadi Shodhana: Action and Integration
25 September (Sunday): 2:30pm-5:30pm
In this afternoon session, we will practise the full Intermediate Series with mindfulness and a consistent tempo. Information and technique will be integrated with intelligence and a sense of humour. In this fourth session, we will work with the sutra: “abhyasa vairagyabham tan nirodaha.”
